I love that these old guys gave us such great wisdom so long ago. But clearly, they never had to navigate junior high as an awkward 12-year-old girl.
When I was a kid, I used to compare myself to the “rich kids”, the girls who had two-story houses and more than one piece of clothing from Benetton.
The comparing is what always got me. I was my own worst dream stealer!! I could take the joy out of my day in an instant when I started comparing.
That feeling of not enough is what steals the joy. It makes you feel not just in that moment, but possibly forever that you’ll never be enough.
